12" LIMITED EDITION VINYLone evening, the new buildings inserted into the baroque Missionary Ensemble of Vilnius’s Old Town (UNESCO) are engulfed in thick mist. the newcomers lose the “promised” view of the old town. white darkness blurs the boundaries they once sought to define, merging everything into one – is this a test from the sky for those who chose to settle on the hill? has a cloud descended upon them? or is it the fog rising from the foothills, tracking them down and robbing them of visual control?
the fog does not touch Vilnius’s graceful baroque architecture – the tall church towers pierce the sky serenely. the sun illuminates their evening clocks, which once struck in the hour of darkness, shining like lighthouse lenses – landmarks for a city wandering in the haze of fractured memory. white darkness poetically holds up a mirror to raw power, restoring the gaze of the townspeople to the abandoned ensemble.
the mist drifts through the air like sound – all-encompassing yet intangible. it moves through Vilnius like a single, unbroken chord. it swells, then falls silent, until moments later only a few sounds remain, drifting across the city. it is alive here and now, and when the church doors open, the past resounds – every vault speaks. echoes that never fade.

Gausme – Twenty fingers duo, Fleitų trys, Dominykas Digimas – 2026
‘Gausme’ is inspired by the unique textural layers of the soundscape in the centre-eastern part of Vilnius. the sounds produced by people here act in harmony with a biophonic sonority that is constantly active, but can only be heard if you listen carefully to it.
to me, ‘I hear what I can't see’ are birds, crickets, grasshoppers and other fauna hidden in the grasses and trees, as well as the city's hum, the sound of car horns on the horizon, the clatter of the construction site, and other anthropophonic sounds. It is an invisible sonority that lies within the acoustic horizon. listening to it creates a very interesting sensation – the perception of sound as a mass, as a trace element hovering like air. It has its own logic, but at the same time it is constantly changing. this score works in the same way – it has a clear structure of who does what and when, yet how they do it is always a little bit different.
the words ‘I see what I can't hear’ came about before I even thought of the piece itself, while I was recording a windy, howling morning city on the hill of Bekešas. at one point I stiffened, looking at a few yellowish, flabby, winter-surviving tufts of grass and agrostis. I realised that I could see how intensely they were moving in the wind, but I couldn't hear them. I have a similar sensation when I watch the slow flow of a river. even on a quiet morning or evening – a huge amount of water just rushes by without a sound. meanwhile, all the sounds of the city merge into one drone, and you are in it.

inspired by Carlo Rovelli’s acclaimed book “The Order of Time”, this musical piece offers a contemporary interpretation of the myth of Orpheus as he leaves time behind and wanders into eternity in the hope of reuniting with his beloved Eurydice. the score, composed by Albertas Navickas and Jūra Elena Šedytė, and based on the original libretto written by a playwright Rimantas Ribačiauskas, weaves together the hauntingly beautiful movements of violin and cello – performed by Twenty Fingers Duo (Lora Kmieliauskaitė and Arnas Kmieliauskas – with rich electronic soundscapes and pulsating rhythms. the music is a tapestry of evocative melodies, innovative extended techniques, and unexpected sonic textures, creating an immersive auditory experience.

NERTI – lora kmieliauskaitė – 2023
the album NERTI is a fusion of experimental and contemporary classical music, with the violin in the foreground, transformed by electronics, voice improvisations, noise aesthetics, and field recordings. the inexhaustible expressive possibilities of the instrument are explored through questioning musical genres and their boundaries. the violin is treated here as an instrument that can "pulsate" in ambient, noise, and experimental music with its wide sonic expression.
NERTI is a music album featuring three composers – Kaveh Mirhosseini, Christopher Fox, and Dominykas Digimas.

Two Sides: West / East – Twenty Fingers Duo x Dominykas Digimas – 2023
our daily relationship with the city’s soundscape is accompanied by a constant shifting of attentiveness – much is heard, but not all is listened to. attentive listening is what allows us to feel our acoustic environment better and discover what has always been just beside us. applying the same to visual or olfactory experiences opens up the possibility of observing, as if through a microscope, a completely different layer of the city.
we came together to explore and experience the environment we inhabit in a way we have not experienced before – by focusing on detailed explorations of auditory and visual sensations. starting from the geographical centre of Vilnius, we walked in different directions of the city, listening to and observing the environment we were in, as well as how and when it changes. in this attentive visual and auditory observation of the different urban layers, we compared them, observed their movement and the counterpoint of their constituent elements.
this work is a collage of our many walks to the west and east of Vilnius. the score functions like a map of the city, a set of motifs to be performed freely by one’s own choice; like flaneuring, they can lead to a different place each time. the two parts, performed on violin and cello, work independently, but create a soundscape interwoven with different textures – always similar, but constantly changing.

Dualitas – Twenty Fingers Duo – 2021
on their second album, Dualitas, Twenty Fingers Duo present music by two very different Lithuanian composers: Rita Mačiliūnaitė, famous for her incidental music for theatre and modern operas, and Kristupas Bubnelis who recently returned to Lithuania from his studies in London. the album features two electroacoustic compositions, Dreamcatcher 2120 for violin, cello and electronics (2021), and ...please leave your message after the tone... for violin, cello and electronics (2020). these reveal the composers’ differences in their attitudes toward sonic expression, the relationship between the members of the duo, the correlation between the acoustic instruments and the electronics, and the strategy of their creative process.

Performa – Twenty Fingers Duo – 2020
PERFORMA is a debut album recorded by Lora Kmieliauskaitė (violin) and Arnas Kmieliauskas (cello) of the Twenty Fingers Duo and released in cooperation with the Music Information Centre Lithuania.
the album features six compositions commissioned by the duo to composers Mykolas Natalevičius, Dominykas Digimas, Rūta Vitkauskaitė, Julius Aglinskas, Arturas Bumšteinas, and Andrius Maslekovas. it was designed by visual artist Lauryna Narkevičiūtė who also created six visuals for the project based on primary ideas and conceptual outlines suggested by composers, which complemented the musical narratives recorded on the album.
